I know it's silly but I did the baking soda test yesterday and got boy! Last time I was pregnant I did it and got girl and it was right. I'm now convinced I'm having a boy ;-)
You pee in a cup with baking soda in it. If it fizzes it's a boy, no fizz means girl. It is totally an old wives tale but fun anyway. I'll let everyone know if it's right this time or not :-)
Explain the fizzing. Mine basically looked like it foamed a bit? Like the head on a beer. That's a boy? Right? Or does it need to really fizz and bubble?
Never heard of this one and just tried it. Granted, I didn't know how much baking soda and I didn't watch the YouTube videos until after I was done. I peed straight into a cup with baking soda already in it and there wasn't fizzing. It most definitely did not look beer like. So girl?
DH is already convinced it's a girl since I have zero fast food cheeseburgers cravings like with DS. We shall see.
Nice frothy beer like mixture...so I guess boy. Dh was less than amused.
Ha, I had to climb over DH who is currently putting down new tile in our kitchen to get to the baking soda. I told him what I was doing and not to judge me. He just laughed.

You tube says if it looks like a beer it's boy. I had a thick layer of foam and some sizzle so I think that's boy.
hmmm mine slightly made a fizz noise but it really didnt look like anything but pee was in the cup. Interesting.
Mine did not make a fizz noise but looked just like pee was in there with baking soda on the bottom of the cup. Some of the YouTube ones showed thick foam on top.
I just watched a YouTube video to see how it works. I happened to find a girl who tested 3 times over weeks 10-14. She got girl all three times. Then I saw their gender reveal video....boy!

Haha awesome! The videos I watched didn't have any updates after they found out.
I did it but my baking soda wasn't fresh. I got a bubble or two, so I guess girl. DH thinks it is a girl and I say boy. We'll see for sure in a month if it was right!

I did it today for fun and it said girl. Most of the wives tales have said girl, and the Chinese chart. So here's to hoping, right! Lol. Can't wait to find out in a few weeks!
I got my prediction at my 12 week scan last week, so I would be interested to try this just for fun. Especially as it was a very quick crotch shot we got, and maybe it wasn't what I was hoping for at first and maybe it was really just too early. Cannot wait to see my own doc at 18 week scan....
I think some of those who have had their Maternit21 tests come back already need to try this. I have no patience to wait for 20 week u/s. lol We could get a pretty good idea of the % due to the amount of people on this board who know for sure already.
I'll try this later. lol Just for curiosity. I think it's a boy due to the fact that I'm breaking out again, like I did with DS. That's the only thing I can connect that could mean something.
I thought I would revisit this thread ... I think all of us who are finding out the sex have done so ... so those of you who found out the sex and did this baking soda test, was it accurate??? How about the Chinese Gender Calendar? any other old wife tales prove to be accurate?
lol @andatcdc, I was VERY confused by this thread, until it finally dawned on me that it was an old post and I saw your recent one. I didn't do this before.. I'm half tempted to now just to see tho.
Baking soda and Chinese calendar were wrong. I'm having a girl. I never had sickness. And I'm growing hair on my belly so thick I'll be able to braid it soon lol (this is suppose to mean boy). So wrong for me!! But I've thought girl all along and so has BF if that counts. If we would have heard its a boy we would have been shocked.

Mine fizzled a little bit.
